These are the site rules. They are a combination of suggestions by our users/staff & over 15 years of experience. Please read these as we strive first and foremost to protect our users from attack or mistreatment and if caught breaking these rule your account may be terminated quickly and without explanation. As we said, we are here to protect our users and will not hesitate to do so.
If you have any rule suggestions please don’t hesitate to contact us, we will consider your input objectively. 🙂
This one is kind of self explanatory.
Have a problem with another user? Try to resolve your issues with other users via email or off line. People come here to find help, not to read about your arguments. If you absolutely have to contact a admin about the issue but try to resolve it yourself first if possible.
One account per user
We currently ask that you limit yourself to one user account. Failure to follow this rule will result in your banning from the forums, please understand. Note: We can make an exception to this rule if you feel you have a good reason, but you must contact one of the mods to discuss this and get approval.
Want me to link to your web site? Post your link in the Submit a link section and after review we will move it to the approved links section. Please do not post links to other sites without asking us first. We want to make sure the content stays clean.
This site is for everyone, not just adults. In the effort to keep this site “family safe” we ask that you refrain from using language that can be deemed offensive and/or adult in nature.
We do not post or allow the posting of research studies on this site. We have done this in the past with unsatisfactory results for all so it will not happen again. Failure to follow this rule will result in a ban from the forums.
Close to the same as the links rule. Please do not post advertisements on our message boards, PMs or Emails to other users. No one likes this. This is a very good way to guarantee that no one will buy your product.
Wikipedia defines an internet troll: “A troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.”
Trolling will not be tolerated here and if caught breaking this rule expect your account to be terminated quickly and without explanation. We are here to protect our users and will not hesitate to do so.
What NOT to discuss here
Religion: In order to keep the conversation on topic and avoid any unnecessary flame wars religious conversation is prohibited. We let this slide in the past but then the arguments started, now it is over. Please do not discuss your (or any other) religion on this site. If you are curious about religion try searching on Google for other sites with a little more religious freedom. We are trying to keep the peace here.
Politics: This also seems to start arguments. Lets just keep the topic on depression and mental health related issues.
If a staff member feels that a user is discussing inappropriate subject matters and/or upsetting other members a ban may be implemented for a period. It is up to the individual staff member to use their discretion in setting the ban length, which can be anywhere from thirty minutes to permanent. If you are banned because of your actions the reason will be explained as well as the length of your ban. Short bans should be considered a cool down period and should not be taken personal, it is only to protect other members.
